This film is adapted from Michael John LaChiusa’s musical originally commissioned by Lincoln Center in 1994. Michael John’s musical was inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s play, DER REIGEN (which has a long history of adaptations & controversy) and the Max Olphus' film LA RONDE.
